ABSTRACT

The kind of comprehensive and unified totality that identity development concerns also involves personality development and competence development as two fields that to some extent cover the same area, but at the same time have their own domains. In this book the focus is on identity development in close connection with transformative learning, but it is important also to have a look at the two other mentioned areas and discuss and, if possible, come to a clarification and delimitation of the mutual relationships between these three kinds of development.
