ABSTRACT
Late in March 1975, Bob Kent and Patrick Thorpe were ushered into Robert Smith’s office, in the Brighton branch of ICFC. In February they had made an application for a loan in order to purchase Certikin Ltd, the company which they managed, from its owner and this was to be the meeting when they would hear whether their application had been favourably received.
