ABSTRACT
Maritime Safety, Security and Piracy is a peer-reviewed book that examines the maritime topics of safety, security and piracy. Maritime safety accidents are unintentional, while maritime security and piracy incidents are intentional. Maritime security and piracy incidents differ in that the focus of the former is damage to property and/or injury to individuals for political reasons while that of the latter is theft. Maritime safety accidents, security incidents and piracy incidents, however, may have the same outcomes-injuries and property damage. The book is divided into two parts. Part I discusses maritime safety, security and piracy from the standpoint of ships and Part II discusses maritime safety, security and theft from the standpoint of ports. The book is written so that it may be read and be of value to both practitioners and academicians.
