ABSTRACT
After the signing of the first disengagement agreement between Egypt and Israel, I decided that it was high time to reactivate contacts with the Soviet Union, in order to show them that we had not moved into the American camp, did not intend to rely solely on the good offices of the United States in our search for peace, and still considered Egypt’s relations with the Soviet Union of crucial importance.
