ABSTRACT
4.1 Property insurance is primarily a matter for the contract between the parties, with statute playing a minor role. Those statutes which do exist, in part remedy defects in the common law, and facilitate insurance which otherwise would not have been available from the market. The existing legislation may be categorised under four headings.
