ABSTRACT
The Secretary of State for Transport, after consulting the persons referred to in section 86(2) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, in exercise of the powers conferred by subsections (1)(a) and (b), and (3) to (7) of section 85 and subsections (1) and (2) of section 86 of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement, interpretation and revocation 1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Distress Signals and Prevention
of Collisions) Regulations 1996 and, subject to paragraph (2) below, shall come into force on 1st May 1996.
