ABSTRACT
Although most people associate Karl Marx with socialism, Marx actually wrote very little about socialism. Rather, he studied capitalist economies and analyzed the problems that arise under capitalism. He argued that these problems could not be remedied by economic 63policies or by other actions to reform or improve the system because they were the system's essential characteristics. These problems, Marx thought, would fester and eventually destroy capitalist economies.
