ABSTRACT

5 This chapter consists entirely of stories of entirepreneurs and entirepreneurship in action. We include these stories early in the book to illustrate and justify our thesis with examples. We want you to realise that conventional terms such as entrepreneur, leader and manager might be defensible, but individually they are inadequate for truly explaining the people involved in changing the way that others think and behave. We do not believe the role-driven terms that we use conventionally truly explain the entirety of the people and their behaviours and accomplishments. In these stories we show why they are entirepreneurs and should be examined through a new lens. In our short introduction to these stories we cross-refer to the forthcoming parts of this book, where we explain our arguments in more detail and fully reveal the entirepreneur to you. You might wish to think of these outline arguments, and how they might apply, as you read through the stories.
