ABSTRACT

An Italian American service and fraternal or-ganization made up of about five hundred members organized in about fifteen local clubs, called “Dens,” that are located in Pennsylvania and Ohio, the National Asso-ciation of the Wolves, popularly known as the Wolves Club, was established in 1951 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, where its national office is located. The organization takes its name and symbolfrom the legendary found-ing of Rome, a she-wolf suckling two infants, Romulus and Remus. The symbol represents an act of charity and service to those in need, principles that inspire the club’s primary pur-pose. The club’s motto, “Pro Bono Publico,” meaning “For the public good,” also reflects the goals and membership requirements of the organization.
