ABSTRACT
Founded in 1922 in Waterbury, Connecticut, as an Italian American service organization similar to the Rotary and the Lions, UNICO National’s headquarters are in Bloomfield, New Jersey; its membership is open to busi-ness or professional males of Italian descent, a condition that has been modified recently to include those men married to females of Ital-ian descent as well. Some local affiliates have female members, but those members are not national members. There are about eight thou-sand members in UNICO National.
