ABSTRACT

These topics are ones that most students seem to enjoy because, on the whole, they can understand them. The shapes are concrete, often three-dimensional and visually pleasing, which are the necessary ingredients to give success to students with specific learning difficulties. The main difficulty is with the complex mathematical words used to describe the shapes, their properties, and the connections and similarities between them. Occasionally students struggle with identifying specific lines within a shape, so they may need to use colour filters to cut out the glare in order to isolate the particular figures they need to study.
