ABSTRACT

As has been defined in previous chapters, breadth of experience refers to an intern’s involvement in a number and assortment of opportunities, and depth of experience is the progression of training in a particular domain from early coursework to skill application, working with differing populations at different levels of service (Haworth & Brantley, 1981). With sufficient breadth and depth of experiences that are (a) aligned with the 10 domains outlined in NASP’s Standards and (b) completed in conjunction with ongoing supervision, it is expected that the intern will develop the competencies needed to begin practice as an entry-level school psychologist.
