ABSTRACT

When you take on an editorship, for the first or tenth time, you are likely to face a number of challenges. Some of these may be technical. Others will be financial. How much do I have to spend? How much do I have to save? But the most prominent will concern relationships. You will have new colleagues, or you will be seeing old colleagues in a new way. The same goes for your boss. You will have to forge new relationships with writers, PR people and photographers, and a clutch of rivals. But your most important relationship is with the reader.
