ABSTRACT

Managing change needs to be approached like any other sort of project, with careful planning, a clear programme of events that need to happen, the involvement of others and more time than you probably originally thought it would take. Change cannot and will not happen overnight, and if you try to force change without treating the process like a separate piece of work, it may not happen at all. The other possible outcome of not managing change is that you will not achieve what you planned to achieve, and this could result in unhappy and disappointed team members. It is also possible that things will happen during, or as a result of, the change that you had not envisaged. Like any other project, contingency plans need to be put into place well in advance.
