ABSTRACT

Central to child-centred settings is the role of all workers to ensure equality of opportunity and implementation of anti-discriminatory procedures when providing a place for all children to play and learn. This means raising awareness, acknowledging diff erences, removing barriers but, more importantly, every adult working with children and young people learning to be a consistent, positive role model. When it comes to inclusive practice, a manager’s role is to make sure that they and their team create an environment where children can reach their full potential without barriers which come from discriminatory attitudes and practices in the setting.
