Many managers of child-centred settings are also part of the team working with the children, so would probably laugh at the idea of trying to reorganise their time to have 60 per cent of time on developing projects. However, by taking some time to look at our own working patterns, reorganising, planning or simply reinforcing boundaries and, of course, by being honest with ourselves, we may fi nd we can get a little closer to the ‘ideal’ of 60 per cent than we had fi rst thought.
