ABSTRACT

Some readers may be surprised to fi nd confi dence the fi rst skill covered in this book. In the introduction we gave a defi nition of the role of the manager of a child-centred setting, and explained that managers need to be able to use leadership skills in order to infl uence others so that they will achieve the organisational goals. Any attempt to help others to change their behaviour requires confi dence on the part of the manager.
