ABSTRACT

This chapter in the first edition of The Trouble with Maths was based on the National Numeracy Strategy. Maths education in the UK moves on, but the content of the NNS was never that dissimilar to maths curricula from years gone by. In fact maths is likely to follow the same development of different strands and topics in many maths schemes across the world. Maths curricula are international and the difficulties in learning maths are international.
