ABSTRACT
If, within western society, it is suggested that everyone is born musical, many people will respond with comments such as, ‘well you obviously haven't heard me sing’, ‘I can't sing a note’, ‘I'm tone deaf’, ‘I can't read music’, ‘I don't play an instrument’ or ‘I'm just not musically gifted’.
