ABSTRACT
Pound's edition of Cavalcanti was not published as planned in December 1929. A sample copy containing the first thirty-two pages and filled out with blank leaves was bound up, but after fifty-six pages of the edition had been printed the Aquila Press failed. Pound managed to rescue the pages already printed and decided to complete the job at his own expense. He handed over the printing of the Italian text and apparatus to the Edizioni Marsano in Genoa and arranged for the reproductions of the manuscripts to be done in Germany.
