ABSTRACT
Pound's first contribution to Ford Madox Hueffer's The English Review was ‘sestina: Altaforte’ which appeared in the issue of June 1909 in the company of work by Galsworthy, Conrad, Belloc, Eden Philpotts and Wyndham Lewis. It was his first appearance in a British magazine. Possibly it was May Sinclair who introduced Pound to Hueffer and so into one of London's most distinguished literary circles.
