ABSTRACT
IN the first Lecture the thesis was advanced that the assumptions from which much current educational thinking and
planning proceed are implicitly secularist, and that this state of affairs is the result of the failure of Christian thinkers and teachers, from the fifteenth century to the present day, to interpret the humanistic impulse of the Renaissance in terms of a new and convincing Christian humanism.
