ABSTRACT

To create a film in the target language using different delivery modes, the storyboard should be used in each case to plan the film in advance. Hand-held cameras produce effects just as good as the use of a TV studio. During the two-day mode, students have more time for script-writing, although they still need to start the first session with ideas in place regarding what they want to film and how they are going to organise the process. The same applies to the two-month version, but the scripts are devised and written over a longer time span of two hours per week for example. This can be arranged as an after-school club or during lunch breaks. The international version of the Languages on Film project is the most ambitious format and obviously has the most linguistic benefits, as students are fully immersed in the target language. This is hugely motivating for individuals, enhances co-operation and reinforces ongoing cultural dialogues. Financial support can frequently be obtained through various bodies, such as the ones listed in the useful internet sites at the end of the accompanying DVD materials.
