ABSTRACT

The Mini-Book-Making Project was instigated in 2008 by nine schools in Essex to increase student motivation with regard to reading and writing skills. The nine schools are part of the former Quartier Rouge network set up by the Local Education Authority and led by Jane Breen, Advanced Skills Teacher and Director of Language College Outreach at King Edward VI Grammar School, Chelmsford. Other schools in the network were: Chelmer Valley High School, Moulsham High School and St Peter’s College, all in Chelmsford; Bentfield Primary School, Stansted; Helena Romanes School, Dunmow; Mountfitchet Mathematics and Computing College, Stanstead Mountfitchet; The Plume School, Maldon; and Saffron Walden County High School. The network has now evolved and the schools listed above are part of an Essex-wide network working in conjunction with Cambridge University, Languages First in Essex).
