ABSTRACT
Whether an outing is informal, i.e. to local shops and amenities, or is more structured, i.e. to farms or local nature reserves, while providing a valuable learning experience it can also bring an increased risk of accidents. It is possible to reduce such risks by meticulous planning and organisation. This chapter considers the planning needed for successful educational visits outside of the early years setting.
