ABSTRACT

I t is a privilege and a pleasure to be able to comment on the excellent set of chapters regarding theoretical perspectives on prospective memory for this volume. I have organized the commentary as follows. First, I share an anecdote about a prospective memory failure I recently experienced as I was working on this commentary. Then, I provide specic comments in chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4. Finally, I return to several general themes raised by the comments on each chapter, and raise some issues and possible directions for the future of prospective memory theory and research.
