ABSTRACT

As The Handbook of Forensic Rorschach Assessment amply demonstrates, the Rorschach Inkblot Method (RIM)1 enjoys broad acceptance and usage in forensic psychological assessment, including Child Custody and Parenting Plan Evaluations (CCPPE).2 The goal of this chapter is to propose a new, systematic model in CCPPEs; to conceptualize how the RIM might fit best in this model; to offer a systematic protocol for RIM use in CCPPE; and to provide the reader a review of proposed central RIM variables within this new model. We examine the research on how frequent the RIM is currently used in CCPPE, its role in the generally accepted model (GAM) for CCPPE, and its legal sufficiency in doing so. We also review the relevant case law on the RIM in CCPPE.
