ABSTRACT

With these remarks, Doron Levy opened a symposium called “Seeing Voices” held at The University of Haifa in 1996. Levy, a Deaf man, decided at age 30 to make a career change; he left his job as an accountant, a profession he considered boring, and began studying linguistics and education for deaf/hearing impaired children at Tel Aviv University. Today he teaches sign language and develops sign language teaching materials, and he also works with us on the Israeli Sign Language research project.
