ABSTRACT
Like all of the common and most useful words of our language, the word writing has multiple meanings. The word even has more than one grammatical function, serving verbally when the reference is to an act of writing and as a noun when the reference is to the product of that act, a piece of writing. In the present chapter we examine writing as a verb.
