ABSTRACT

There has been a certain amount of talk in recent years about the significance for education of a likely increase in leisure time for adults in the future. The curriculum under consideration certainly caters for such an eventuality by its emphasis on such things as sport and literature, which though they may not be put forward primarily as sources of pleasure for the individual may obviously nonetheless prove to be pleasurable leisure activities, and through its programme of options (see below). But despite emphasis on the likelihood of increased leisure, most of us will still continue to have to spend an appreciable amount of time working.
