ABSTRACT

By contrast mountaineering, photography, angling and dancing, though they may be great sources of pleasure, besides not being particularly difficult to master, are neither useful nor relevant in my senses of those terms. They are predominantly private activities and what one might term 'extras' in life. To say as much is not to slight them. No doubt we all need some 'extras' in life; but then we all find them, through friends, societies, of our own accord, as offshoots of what we do in schools, or howsoever.
