ABSTRACT

In the ®rst edition of his Dictionary of Kleinian Thought Robert Hinshelwood gives a ®tting tribute to the importance of technique to Klein:

The power of Klein's original technique for psychoanalysis with children gave impetus to all the later developments in her theory, and to her technique of psychoanalysis with adults. Kleinian writings continue to re¯ect the clinical emphasis: very few papers are published without detailed case reports to substantiate their point.
