ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with two critical yet seldom reported-on aspects of IHRM policy and practice: concern for the well-being of the MNE’s global workforce and the development and maintenance of the global HR information system. Both of these areas of concern are central to IHRM’s ability to deliver on its vision of making a major contribution to the MNE’s competitive advantage in the global marketplace. And taken together they provide an important conclusion for the themes of this section of the text, with a look at both the practical side of IHRM and a focus on the way that MNEs are struggling to find ways to deliver strategic support while delivering the necessary IHRM services within acceptable metrics.
