ABSTRACT

In this unit pupils enquire into the concept of community. All pupils will have their own experiences of community, the school being the most obvious one. Many will also have experiences of communities outside school such as Brownies or Cubs, sports clubs or youth clubs. Some pupils may also be part of religious communities. This unit enables pupils to recognise features of communities, their value to those who belong, and any issues that are raised for insiders and those outside communities. The core religious reference material is drawn from Christianity, followed by examples of how community can be explored within aspects of other major religions. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780203816349/31ebb691-d5df-485e-9924-a6ef52d01d06/content/fig2_1_B.jpg"/>
