ABSTRACT

Societies, whatever their form, whether large or small, ancient or modern, primitive or advanced, are social aggregates made up of individual human beings bound together by common interests, needs, and goals. In all societies men seek to control the physical forces of nature, to perpetuate themselves and their way of life, and to improve upon the mode and manner of their living through engaging in various forms of economic and political activity. Furthermore, men everywhere have their images and aspirations, their beliefs and superstitions, their fears and foibles, all of these more or less consistent with their history and traditions, and their place in the space and time of man's evolution.
