ABSTRACT

This chapter will explore the subject of investigation strategies. In particular the chapter will consider a number of important areas, including the role of a victim in an investigation, and the role of a witness and how important they are. It will also consider the TIE (trace/interview/eliminate) strategy and the suspect strategy. Further, the impact of the professionalising investigation process (PIP) will be discussed and reviewed to discover what impact this has had on investigations. Finally, the use of intelligence and other sources during an investigation will be examined.
