ABSTRACT
This need for combining approaches becomes more obvious when we examine the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. The supervisor will want to choose their approaches so that they combine the advantages, help the student to carry out the best possible research in a timely manner, be able to defend their thesis and for both parties to enjoy the process as much as possible. They will want to minimise risks of unnecessary delay, relationship breakdown or failure.
