ABSTRACT

Th e science process skills describe the actions within the culture of science that students can develop through practice. Previously we considered three basic science process skills: observing,

inferring, and classifying. In this chapter, we will examine the process skills of measuring, predicting, and communicating. As in the previous chapter, we will defi ne each process skill, demonstrate how each is a component of the culture of science, and discuss where teachers need to pay special attention to students with diff ering cultures, home languages, or cognitive abilities.
