ABSTRACT

Couples in distress often face painful struggles that raise searching questions about one’s faith in love, commitment, and another person . These struggles may prompt existential questions as one is challenged by various choices and uncertainties about what is of ultimate importance or value . Many of the couples facing issues like those covered in this book turn to faith and spirituality as a source of purpose and hope . Increasingly, spirituality is recognized as a source of resilience for couples and families (e .g ., Anderson & Worthen, 1997; Walsh, 2008) .
