ABSTRACT

For over 15 years there has been considerable discussion about the relationship between qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation. This discussion has sometimes taken the perspective that there are two irreconcilable paradigms: Naturalist and Positivist (Lincoln and Guba 1985). While those debates still go on (Bredo 2009; Guba 1990; Halling and Lawrence 1999; Held 1998; Howe 2009; Johnson 2009; Tillman 2009), there has been much new written about how to think through the two paradigm arguments.
