ABSTRACT
Rita de Grandis: Before beginning, I asked Guita how she would introduce herself, and she said, "No superfluous words, let's get straight to the point. You academics are too flamboyant!" So I just want to welcome her and to thank the vice-consul of Mexico here in Vancouver, for without her support, this visit would not have been possible. Even finding out how to get hold of Guita was very difficult, not to mention obtaining the funding that we needed to bring her here. I'll also introduce Jan, from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, who will be joining in a three-way conversation with our guest.
