Introduction

In the early 1990s, on one of the walls of the Nepean campus of the University of Western Sydney favoured by graffitists, there developed an exchange which was an extension of a number of ‘immigration debates’ that were taking place in Australia at the time. More recently, with the rise of Hansonism, these debates have been made a permanent feature of the Australian political landscape.
