ABSTRACT

As was explained in detail in Chapter 1, the ICT Programme of Study specifies, in relation to Developing ideas and Making things happen, at Key Stage 1, that pupils should be taught:

and at Key Stage 2, that pupils should be taught:

In Chapter 1 we discussed the nature of the developing ideas, with particular reference to models and simulations - including the use of models in weather forecasting - and in kitchen layout simulations; here we shall begin by considering simulations and models at Key Stage 2 (see Programme of Study 2c above). We shall then consider other ways in which children develop their ideas using ICT, how this all relates to progression in the other aspects we have so far considered, and to the aspect of Reviewing, modifying and evaluating workas it progresses. We shall then relate this to ICT capability, and suggest a different way of conceptualising the aspects to help get a better understanding of the ICT National Curriculum.
