ABSTRACT
Perhaps no one would be more surprised to find himself in a volume of Twentieth Century Thinkers in Adult and Continuing Education than Chris Argyris. Yet, few organizational theorists have had as much influence or have thought more consistently on adult education theory. In these pages, we give a brief overview ofhis career, summarize his key theoretical work as it is pertinent to adult education and discuss his contribution to adult education theory and practice.
