Southwest of the Boston Common and Public Garden and on the south edge of the Back Bay, Copley Square is surrounded by several significant buildings including McKim, Meade and White’s Boston Public Library (1895), H.H. Richardson’s Trinity Church (1877) and Pei Cobb Freed and Partners’ John Hancock Tower (1976).
