ABSTRACT

It seems that nearly every twenty years many American cities must redesign their plazas to accommodate changes in culture or taste but mostly to correct ill-conceived, if well-intentioned designs. Fountain Square is important urbanistically because it is at the crux of Cincinnati civic activities created in an effort to revitalize the downtown central business district in the late 1960s – an effort that continues as the square was reconfigured in 2006 mostly to correct issues of accessibility.
