ABSTRACT
Stuyvesant Square, a residential square in the heart of the Stuyvesant neighborhood approximately three blocks east of Union Square in Manhattan, reveals the connection of New York’s design and citizenry to their European roots. Though founded by descendants of the Dutch colonists of New Amsterdam, it also shows the connection to the English concept of residential squares in London.
