ABSTRACT

In the course of conversations with clergy whose primary ministry takes place in a congregation and who primarily do pastoral care with adults, such comments are frequently heard. Neither Aaron nor Beth is unique among pastoral caregivers for their responses. In recognizing that they feel stuck and unsure of how to proceed, they have already come to the realization that pastoral care of children and youth is different. Once over the hurdle of getting beyond the greeting' they are in a position to have some incredible discussions with children and youth. They will very likely discover that the youngest members of their congregations are frequently very willing to share their ideas about God and heaven, if only someone will show a genuine interest in hearing them.
