ABSTRACT

My first point is to remind the reader of the classification of countries’ experiences in state-mandated redistributive land reform into complete, quasi-complete and partial land reform, as defined in the preceding chapter. The first two categories have already been presented, and the third category is examined in this chapter. In alphabetical order, the countries studied are Egypt, India, Iran, Morocco, the Philippines and Syria. Had space permitted, Chile, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would have been included. But before presenting each case study, some general remarks are made with regard to the features of partial land reform (PLR) that are relevant to the subject of this book.
