ABSTRACT

Tsou is spoken by around 4000 people living in Mt Ali, in the southwest of Taiwan. It is also known as ‘Northern Tsou’ in opposition to Saaroa and Kanakanavu or ‘Southern Tsou’. Geographical maps on the location of the Tsou tribe are given in Wurm and Hattori (1983), Tsuchida (1995:294) and Wright (1996:45-46).
